Objectives

The International Celso Furtado Center for Development Policies is a civil entity governed by private law that is of public interest; it is non-profit making and has no political-party or religious ties.
Its foremost purpose is to promote academic activities related to the areas of interest as specified in its statutes, with the guiding line being the study of development in its multiple economic, social, regional and urban, infrastructural, environmental and international facets. Its courses and seminars, of a formative, nature are directed at students and all those interested in the problems of development.
Other objectives of the Celso Furtado Center include:
- to offer prizes and student scholarships to researchers in the area of economic and social development;
- to put forward and evaluate development policies;
- to publish the results of work carried out;
- to preserve and provide public access to Celso Furtado’s Library and archives, when their classification and organization has been completed.
